The easiest way is to use rubbing alcohol with a cotton swab to keep them squeaky clean, or watch our video on how to clean a one hitter. Occasionally, the insides of our pipes can contain some residue from having been fired in a kiln. If you find some in your pipe, just dip a cotton swab in some rubbing alcohol and use it to gently clean the residue off.

The unglazed clay portion of your puffware wasn’t a mistake and is perfectly safe to use. While glaze makes ceramics easier to clean and more durable, portions of most food-safe ceramics are left unglazed so they can be fired without the glaze sticking to the kiln. All ceramics absorb some liquid—even dishwasher-safe ceramics. But our ceramics have a very low absorption rate because of the type of clay we use and the high temperatures we fire them at.
