This black is called Bourgeois Black, named for sculptor and painter Louise Bourgeois. She went straight at the darkest parts of human experience: trauma, family, sexuality, feminism. And somehow made them beautiful. Her most famous sculpture is a massive spider she named after her mother. Black, in her hands, was never just a color. It was a position.
