The Artist and Her Work
For the third edition of our artist series, we partnered with New York-based conceptual artist Sophia Wallace. These papers are wrapped in an image from her original installation WE ARE HERE FOR THE REPOSSESSION, part of her ongoing Cliteracy project. With an unflinching lens and infectious wit, Sophia's work argues that everyone has the right to joyful embodiment. As she puts it, democracy without Cliteracy is a phallusy. Her work has been exhibited internationally and she can be seen in the award-winning documentary The Dilemma of Desire. And yes, these are queen-size. Naturally.
Housing Works
A portion of every sale supports Sophia directly and goes to Housing Works, one of New York City's most beloved nonprofits. Founded in 1990 by original members of ACT UP, Housing Works provides low-income and homeless New Yorkers affected by HIV/AIDS with access to housing, healthcare, job training, and legal support.
